VIPER Singer Launches Solo Project

Ricardo Bocci, vocalist of the Brazilian heavy metal band VIPER, will launch his solo project with the release of the "My Way" single, featuring a guest appearance by Japanese drummer Yuichi Nagoshi (whom Ricardo met over the Internet).

"Yuichi recorded the drums there in Japan and sent me [the completed track via] the Internet," Bocci said. "I was very impressed with his technique and commitment with the project."

The guitar work on the track was handled by Demian Tiguez (SYMBOLS) and Ian Lucena "Bemolator" (HARLLEQUIN) while the bass was laid down by Fernando Giovannetti (AQUARIA, GLORY OPERA, ZYON VEGA). The mixing was handled by Roy Z, who has previously worked with BRUCE DICKINSON, HALFORD and HELLOWEEN, among many others. Bocci explains: "Since 2004, I thought that Roy Z was the right person to produce the VIPER album 'All My Life', but unfortunately we couldn't find a way to contact him [to get him involved with the project]. But after his visit to Brazil to produce some local bands, I had the opportunity to meet him: a person with a very good humor and undeniable competence as guitarist, composer and producer. So I continued composing and contacted him to ask to work with me by mixing this song. He accepted the offer and the results couldn't be better!"

"My Way" was mastered by Maor Appelbaum (ROB HALFORD, FIGHT, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN). "Maor is a very experienced producer and mastering engineer and it's no surprise that he was Roy Z's suggestion," states Bocci. "He balanced the frequencies in such a manner that it simultaneously sounds crystal clear and heavy. Some people say that this two qualities are almost impossible to exist together."

The vocals, guitars and keyboards were recorded in São Paulo, Brazil with Alexandre Calvanese (EROTIC JULIET).
